The basic building block of our organization from the very beginning was a project that we called the Tree Rescue competition. Briefly explained, It’s a race to save an injured tree climber. The issue of helping an injured colleague who, due to various factors, is unable to get from a tree to the ground without help to the care of doctors is, of course, a very strong topic. Despite the fact that everyone who works as an arborist knows how difficult it is to provide such a service to a colleague, we felt that the much-needed training in different rescue options and improvement in this activity is at least postponed in common practice in favor of more pragmatic values. Rescuing a seriously injured colleague, who is often also your friend, also carries with it very important aggravating factors, which are significant stress, time constraints and general discomfort when dealing with such a situation. The atmosphere of such an event is very difficult to create during regular trainings, so we thought about how to at least get close to it.

We cannot simulate concerns for the life and health of a friend, but we agreed that all other factors are best simulated by a race. We managed to create a format that, at least we hope, faithfully simulates time constraints, stress, the need to make independent decisions very quickly, and confidence in one’s plan and abilities. We bet on the collective spirit of the community, the desire to meet and spend time together, the competitiveness of their members, and this resulted in an event that we are, we hope, rightly proud of.
